German Lessons

It's incredible how efficient and caring members at the MTC (Mission Training Center) are. As soon as we received our packet explaining the process for preparing for and entering our mission, we were instructed to call the MTC and arrange for tutoring in German. We called and it wasn't long before a Sister Jensen was SKYPEing us three times a week with two hour private tutoring sessions in Deutsch. She has been great. I have been able to refresh a language long dormant in my old brain and Nancy has really picked up a lot as she has begun her "from scratch" training. We are both excited enough to not care about the hours of study between tutoring that's required. The photo shows us both in the kitchen with the counter covered with study materials waiting with our iPad for Sister Jensen to begin our SKYPE session and smile kindly as we butcher the personal experiences she has assigned us to share. On occasion she will have volunteers who are either native Germans or well-versed students pretending to be Young Adults entering the Young Adult Center. We are to welcome them and share personal experiences with them as we try to make them feel at home in the Center. Great fun and and plenty of stress.

  2. I'm glad you found time to post this in between all of that studying. I love that picture. It will be a fun memory in a year or so when you are both fluent in German. :) You two are going to do great!

We have been called to serve the Lord in Germany as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (sometimes referred to as the Mormons). We are witnesses to the Savior, Jesus Christ, who has blessed our lives in every way. We hope to help others in their efforts to find true joy and happiness in their lives and in the lives of their families.
